‘Ring of Fire’ - a WWF programme to unleash the potential of geothermal energy in Southeast Asia

With the ‘Ring of Fire’ programme, WWF ambitiously sets this target: by 2015, there is a significant shift towards the use of renewable energy, particularly in the sustainable production and use of geothermal energy in the Philippines and Indonesia.

The activities within the Ring of Fire programme will focus on helping reform the energy sector towards a more sustainable market, supportive of geothermal energy. The programme will work on the policy environment, the sustainability aspects, financial and economical issues, plus capacity building and awareness raising.

The programme will show that it is possible to achieve this ambition in a sustainable way - while conserving biodiversity, supporting innovation, green economic growth, countering climate change and improving the living conditions of targeted communities.
