![]() Position: PROJECT MANAGERBuilding Momentum for Low Carbon Development in the Philippines and TurkeyReports to: Head, Climate Change and Energy Supervises: Project Assistant Project background: Turkey and the Philippines have a significant GHG reduction potential, have shown an interest in lowering their emissions and are already designing and/or implementing climate protection measures. They however lack extensive knowledge on ways to build a low carbon society by 2050 and to prevent a carbon lock, without hindering development. The project will establish country specific Low Carbon Plans (LCP) in Turkey and the Philippines starting from emission reduction targets set for 2050 (“putting the target first”). They will not only focus on CO2, but take into account other emissions of all relevant sectors as well. These LCPs can be the basis for ambitious long-term mitigation targets for politics, the business sector and civil society. LCPs contribute to UNFCCC’s LCAPs/LEDS. WWF will cooperate closely with research institutes, relevant decision makers and NGOs in the countries. The LCPs will build the groundwork - scope, approach and information – and capacities in Turkey and the Philippines for the support and implementation of long-term climate protection measures. The project also furthers knowledge and experiences exchange between the countries. The LCPS will take a broad perspective beyond mitigation and include economic and social aspects of low carbon development. The methodology of the blueprint is easily adaptable to different contexts; the WWF network actively supports this.
