WWF INDIVIDUAL DONORS PROGRAMWith 50 years of hard-earned field experience in both ecological conservation and sustainabledevelopment, WWF knows how difficult it is to transform people and communities. More than ever,we must sustain effective programs and operations to address these issues and save our Earth. To generate much-needed funds, we developed our own Individual Donors Program. Through theIDP, our network can reach out to more people and ask them to take direct action in saving theenvironment through monetary donations. - WHY INDIVIDUAL DONORS?
Because we rely exclusively on voluntary contributions from corporations, private foundations, multilateral and bilateral aid agencies plus individual donors. With the exception of donorships, these sources support mostly time-bound and very specific project activities, rarely providing sufficient funds to cover all operating expenses. The IDP’s focus is to encourage as many people to contribute modest amounts regularly. Pooled together, these funds will make up a significant portion of WWF's unrestricted fund requirements, critical to operations that support all our programs. - HOW IS THE FUNDRAISING PROGRAM IMPLEMENTED?
To carry out this fundraising program, we have contracted the services of APPCO, an agency working with WWF offices in Malaysia, Australia and Indonesia. Our WWF-APPCO fundraising team approaches thousands of people in various Metro Manila locations under the authority of WWF. We ask for modest amounts (PHP500 or PHP600 per month) because we believe in offering affordable and sustainable giving opportunities to a wide audience. By accepting donations made through credit cards, we reduce transaction costs and eliminate problems from handling off-site cash contributions. - DO FUNDRAISERS RECEIVE COMMISSIONS?
No. They are paid a one-time service fee from a pre-allocated budget. - HOW ARE THE FUNDS USED?
Your money shall be pooled together and put to good use by: - Supporting key conservation projects in 15 sites throughout the Philippines.
- Promoting clean and renewable energy sources through climate campaigns like Earth Hour.
- Preparing coastal communities for imminent climate change impacts.
- Educating and empowering the Filipino youth via vigorous environmental education drives.
- WHAT CAN DONORS EXPECT?
Those who sign up for the monthly program can expect regular updates from WWF, invitations to various donor events as well as our e-mailed newsletter, Pandamail. For any questions, comments and clarifications, please do not hesitate to contact us by e-mail at donorsupport@wwf.org.ph or through our customer service hotline +632 895 6294, M-F, 9 - 5PM. - HOW MUCH DOES A FUNDRAISER EARN?
Fundraisers earn more than most fresh graduates because of the high demands of the job. - HOW MUCH DOES THE AGENCY EARN?
WWF pays APPCO from a separate fundraising budget. APPCO in turn has its own compensation mechanism for fundraisers. APPCO is paid a one-time service fee from a pre-allocated budget. - SHOULDN’T ALL THE MONEY BE SPENT ON CONSERVATION PROGRAMS?
According to a recent study, many Filipinos still do not know much about WWF and what it really does. The IDP helps raise awareness for WWF-Philippines’ work in and for the country. It is a program in itself which encourages people to take a direct part in conservation and sustainability initiatives through cash donations. Most importantly, fundraisers give people tips on how to minimize their carbon footprints, their individual impacts on the environment. The ripple effects from these positive acts will surely be felt in the years to come. From overcrowded tunnels to busy malls, WWF’s stalwart fundraisers work 24/7 not just to keep WWF afloat - but to transform people’s lives. - FOR MORE INFORMATION:
