Reports to: Lead Trainer, No Plastics in Nature – Project COPE (WWF-Philippines)
WWF-Philippines is a non-profit organization that works to improve Filipino lives by crafting solutions to climate change and conserving the country’s richest marine and land habitats. WWF is currently implementing the "No Plastics in Nature Initiative (NPIN)”, a global initiative that aims to stop plastic waste leakage into nature by 2030 through the elimination of unnecessary plastics, doubling reuse, recycling, and recovery, and ensuring remaining plastics are sourced responsibly.
Over the past months, we have collaborated with partners in local government units to identify the training and support needs for waste workers, aiming to empower them in local waste management and plastic recovery in an effort to (Objective 2) initiate models of cooperative organization and community governance. As part of this effort, the GREEN Learning Series was developed.
The GREEN Learning Series aims to build the capacity of grassroots informal waste workers and community leaders, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to develop and implement sustainable solutions for reducing plastic waste leakage. Through a blended series of in-person workshops and asynchronous application activities, participants will explore Green technologies, 5Rs in waste management best practices, and Entrepreneurship opportunities while Empowering them to foster a Network of collaboration and innovation within their communities. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, community action, and empowerment, enabling participants to unite into a collective force by creating and leading community-based waste management cooperatives, social enterprises, or networks that contribute to environmental sustainability and their socio-economic well-being.
The main objective of the service provider is to develop and deliver the Empowerment Track of the GREEN Learning series. Empowerment track learnings should revolve around, but not limited to:

This will help sustain their interest and commitment to their roles, reinforcing the importance of their work and its impact on the community. Participants will assess areas where their leadership can drive further improvements.
