Cool and Solar Initiative
The Cool and Solar Initiative Project aims to assist 3 cities across the country in improving their local energy efficiency and renewable energy policies. The 3 cities are San Fernando, La Union in Luzon, Ormoc City, Leyte in the Visayas, and Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte in Mindanao.
The overall goal for the Cool and Solar Initiative Philippines is for cities to reduce their emissions through 1) actions on a city's own buildings (application of solar use and energy efficiency measures) and 2) through better training and mobilization of the multi-stakeholders. Specifically, to accelerate the uptake of rooftop solar PV and efficient cooling solutions in selected cities through (i) local technical capacity building, (ii) pilot projects, and (iii) awareness-raising.
