Under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) component of the EU Ocean Governance Project, EPSON has awarded complementary funding for mangrove ecosystem restoration, expanding the coverage area to Bataraza. The EPSON funding is also part of the Coral Triangle Programme (CTP) Support - Creating Conservation Impact at Scale in the Coral Triangle initiated through WWF Singapore.

One main feature of this Project is the establishment of Community Learning and Innovation Hubs. The two sites identified for this are Bataraza, Philippines and Semporna, Malaysia.

By March 2025, restoration efforts at scale in the Sulu Sulawesi Seascape have developed best practices and lessons learned to build regional capacity that support a network of well-managed MPA/OECMs.
